  • Sweet Valentine Treats

    Sweet Valentine Treats

    This Valentine’s Day, let’s take a break from the same old candies & roses. Say “I love you” with some homemade Valentine gifts you can make yourself!

    Ingredients:

    • white melting chocolate ( or whatever color you would like)
    • wafer cookies
    • variety of Valentine’s Day sprinkles
    • parchment or wax paper

    Directions To Make Treats:

    1. Melt your chocolate as directed on package.
    2. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. This will prevent sticking while the cookies dry.
    3. Once chocolate is melted, dip the top half of a wafer cookie.
    4. Quickly sprinkle on your chosen sprinkles.
    5. Place on prepared baking sheet to dry.

    You won’t need much to make these clever candy Easter baskets.

    Materials:

    Directions:

    1. Glue the candy boxes together as shown.
    2. Cut out a piece of cardboard that will fit the bottom of the basket. Glue it to the bottom of the boxes.
    3. Hot glue one end of the Laffy Taffy rope to the middle and top of the candy box. Glue the other end of the rope to the middle of the other box of candy. Do this one more time with the remaining rope.
    4. Fill the basket with grass and goodies.

    These peep fruit kabobs are a great alternative to sugary sweets and candy.  Not to mention, they are super easy to make!!

    • Wooden skewers
    • 1-2 packages of Peeps, more if you want a variety of color
    • Fresh fruit of your choice: You can use seedless white grapes cantaloupe, pineapple and strawberries

    1. Layer fruit on a skewer with a peep in the center.

    DIY Turkey Corner Bookmarks

    This simple Thanksgiving Day craft is the perfect origami project for kids, and it will also encourage them to read more!

    Materials:

    • Turkey Bookmark Template (Download it at the end of the post)
    • White paper
    • Scissors
    • Glue

    Directions:

    1. Download and print the turkey bookmark template.
    2. Cut the square and fold it into a triangle making sure both parts of the turkey are on the same side. Crease well.
    3. Turn the triangle over and fold the right corner towards the middle. Do the same with the left corner.
    4. Unfold both corners and fold the top layer of the triangle to the bottom.
    5. Tuck the flaps that we created in step 3 into the pocket created in step 4.
    6. Cut the five feathers included in your template.
    7. Glue the feathers behind the bookmark starting with the yellow in the middle, followed by the orange feathers, and the red ones.
    8. Your turkey bookmark is ready to start gobbling on your favorite fall book!

  • Oreo Turkey Cookies

    Oreo Turkey Cookies

    Quick and easy turkey cookies, made with simple ingredients like Oreos and candy corn. These Thanksgiving cookies are fun to make with kids.

    Ingredients:

    • 10 Oreo cookies
    • 1/2 cup Chocolate, Melted
    • 2 cups Candy corn
    • 20 Eyeball candies
    • 10 Pumpkin chocolate chips

    Directions:

    1. Separate an Oreo cookie so that you have one cookie with filling and one without filling.
    2. Pour some melted chocolate on the side with filling.
    3. Arrange the candy corns in the shape of feathers.
    4. Place the other cookie on top and press gently to stick everything together.
    5. Use melted chocolate to stick eyes and chocolate chip beak on top of the Oreo and you are done.

  • FATHER’S DAY LAWN MOWER RICE KRISPIE TREATS

    FATHER’S DAY LAWN MOWER RICE KRISPIE TREATS

    Ingredients:

    Tip: Save time by using pre-packaged Rice Krispie treats! Or you can make your own if you prefer the homemade taste.

    Directions To Make Treats:

    1. Cut the flexible straws in half. Discard the bottom half and keep the end with the flexible part.
    2. Take 2 of the straws and fold the flex part and attach these together by pushing one inside the other. It will look like a “U” shape.
    3. Spread a layer of red frosting on top of each Rice Krispie treat, then place a a Rolo candy piece in the center of each.
    4. Take one straw “U” (these are your lawn mower handles) and push the ends into a Rice Krispie treat, on one side. Repeat with each Rice Krispie treat until all have attached “handles.”
    5. Take apart 12 of the mini Oreo cookies and scrape out the filling. Use white frosting to attach 4 of the cookies to the sides of each Rice Krispie treat to look like wheels.
    6. Scoop the remaining white frosting into a small mixing bowl and add a few drops of green food coloring gel. Stir until well mixed; add more coloring drop-by-drop until you reach your desired shade of green.
    7. Spread the green frosting on 6 graham crackers to resemble grass. Gently place a lawnmower Rice Krispie treat on top each graham cracker, pressing slightly so that the “lawn mowers” will attach to the “grass.”
    8. Allow to set and enjoy!

    Plastic Spoon Flower Craft for Mom

    This little Crocus Flower Craft would be a really cute gift for mom on Mother’s Day

    Materials:

    • 3 plastic spoons – I used purple for one flower and yellow spoons for another
    • floral tape
    • green pipe cleaner cut into thirds
    • yellow pipe cleaner cut into halves
    • 1 clear 9oz. cup
    • crinkle cut brown paper shavings
    • A low temp. glue gun and glue sticks

    Directions:

    1. Face all 3 spoons inward, forming a triangle with the handles
    2. Start wrapping the middle with floral tape and go all the way down (this first part is just to get a good hold with the floral tape, so the spoons are held together)
    3. Wrap the spoons again, going all the way up to the end of the handle
    5. Now insert your green pipe cleaner into some spaces on the tape
    6. Insert the yellow pipe cleaner down the center of the spoons so some of the yellow is sticking out of the top
    7. Glue the spoon bouquet to the bottom of the cup and fill it with brown paper
